Love Food!
The fact is that we are meant to love food! That’s right; all those foods that you denied yourself and ended up craving are exactly the foods that your body wants! Our bodies have been pre-programmed since the days of the cave-woman (and man) to find salty, fatty and sweet foods especially appetising. In those days, these foods were in short supply and we had to work pretty hard to get them.

Now for most people getting food today is easy, we pick up a ready meal at the supermarket or call for a delivery of pizza or Chinese, it’s simple. We don’t even have to get off the couch to get what we crave.

These are perfect foods for the cave living human who hasn’t had a decent meal in months. These are the foods that would help us through the long lean winter when there is nothing else around.

But in this modern world, we don’t have long lean winters, we don’t have to exercise to get our food but we still have those cravings from our ancestor's cave living days.

So to be the size and shape we want, we have to work with our inner cave-woman (or man) and recognise that banning certain foods is a perfect recipe…for weight loss disaster.

Because every time you deprive yourself of a particular food it just gets even more appealing so that the second we come off the diet, we binge on those banned foods. It’s just human nature and it’s also why the usual diets deliver short-term, but ultimately fail.

We make food links

We tend to link our activities to food. If we celebrate we go out for dinner, if we feel down we eat for comfort, if we do well we give ourselves a reward. Every time this happens we reinforce the habit of eating for emotions, even when we're not feeling hungry.
